Let’s get to meet you. Tell us about yourself and your background

My names are Teslim Omotunde known mostly as AKIIB. A Nigerian born artist and record producer

What inspired you into Music? How has the journey been so far?

I’ll say my biggest inspiration is myself discovering my traits for music as a teenager and see what I can become going on that path.

Can you tell us about the hurdles you faced in the beginning, how were you able to overcome them and how has it shaped your career path

Challenges have been countless and that’s part of what makes us grow. From production to promotion to finance every part comes with different challenges and I’m grateful for the lessons they teach

What would you aspire to achieve at the apex of your career as a musician

As for achievements definitely the Grammys. Wining as an artist and a producer

Nigeria is blessed with a lot of talented artist and producers with international recognitions, what kind of role do you think they should play in mentoring up and coming artist and growing the industry?

Our established Artist have a role to play in the development of younger artists to guide and inspire them on every step of the journey. We are blessed with so many super stars that have taken up younger artists in their wings and watched them develop under their guidance.

Who are the artist local and international artist that influenced your style of music? If you could do a performance with someone, who would it be?

I listen to the likes of Burna, Wizkid, the mainstream and also the oldies. I always want to work with the likes of Kanye and everyone on their A game

Asides Music, do you have other interest in the value chain of entertainment that you might want to explore in future

Aside from music I plan on exploring publishing and other niches in the future

Can you describe how tech has helped in the growth of Nigerian music? What are the lessons learnt?

Tech has been a very helpful tool in growing the music industry with the help of social media apps now being the new TV stations where upcoming artists can now grow their own fan base on their phone with the likes of Facebook Instagram and the likes.

Not needing labels before the showcase themselves like it used to be like in the earlier years

What should your fans, Nigerians and the rest of the world expect from you in the nearest future?

My fans should expect nothing but greatness
